Poker Time have just announced that they will no longer be accepting bets from players in the United States. They have stated that this is due to the recent implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
Poker Time is powered by Microgaming and is operated by the Fortune Lounge Group which is also responsible for a number of websites including Platinum Play, Royal Vegas, Desert Dollar and 7 Sultans. They revealed that players residing in the United States are now barred from taking part on their domain. This is sad news for players in the United States and I’m sure it will also mean a drop in revenues for this online poker website too.
According to Poker Time they have said due to circumstances that are beyond their control they will no longer be able to take bets from players residing in the United States and this new rule came into effect on the 1st of June 2010.
All players from the United States who had money in their online poker accounts on Poker Time were informed that they needed to cash out everything prior to the 31st of May 2010. Poker Party stated that they would not be able to process any withdrawal requests received after this date. They also apologised for any inconvenience this caused their players but they said they were looking forward to inviting and welcoming all their US players back to their online poker room should the conditions change.
This really is sad news for all US players on the Poker Time website and I hope it doesn’t spread to all the other online gambling websites that accept US players.
Until next time,
Win Big
