In a good craps strategy you should only place bets that have a low house advantage. There are some betting strategies that have to deal with bets you should make and mainly bets you should not make. Here are some betting strategies that can increase your chances of being successful when playing craps.

Beware of Prop Bets

Prop bets will be determined on a single roll of the dice. With prop bets the house edge is very high. Any Craps bet, by itself, gives the house edge an 11% advantage.

Do not make Lay Bets

A free odds wager is basically another bet on top of an existing pass, come, don't pass, or don't come bet. This bet pays out true odds instead of house odds so it will give you a better return. The casino makes no money of a free odds bet, but will with a winning pass line bet. The casino offers this because they will make money on the original bet, which is why a free odds bet has to be made with another bet. This bet brings the house edge down from 1.5% to .8%. You have to be aware that for you to get the maximum return you should bet in specific increments, which will depend on the established point. It will not matter the increments you make on 4 and 10 since they pay out odds of 2 to 1. 5 and 9 pay out odds of 3 to 2 so you should wager in even amounts.
